How to get The Row look for less

It’s quite evident that we all love The Row; the classic timeless chic styles with an element of effortless-ness is just so desirable and creates the epitome of a classic timeless wardrobe.

With that being said, their price tags are hefty ones. A lovely follower on Instagram suggested how to get The Row look but much more affordable when I asked what you’d like to see for content, and so of course I had to get right onto it! I’ve put together an edit of pieces that are available at the moment that give that minimal sartorial Row vibe, but I also wanted to key point factors to think and keep in mind when shopping, to help you signify what to look for to get that Row feel. Hopefully this will guide you when you’re out and about shopping and to curate your own selections.

1. Cut & Shape

The Row is quite evidently a very minimal brand, but with very beautiful silhouettes that make pieces feel modern & sophisticated. When shopping, look out for boxy tailoring and minimal necklines, especially asymmetric necklines and some elements of draping. The Row styles very much have boxy shapes with some juxtaposing of draping in some pieces; this is what really makes items look modern even though simple.

2. Neutral Colour Palette with a Pop

The aesthetic of the brand is quite neutral, in keeping with the whole black, white, greys & beiges. You’ll find a pop of colour or two through each new collection like a red or cobalt blue. The key is to add a pop of colour that’s a classic hue & tone, for example a red that’s primary rather than cooler or warmer hue of red. It’s also worth noting to pick a very classic/wardrobe basic in the pop of colour you choose, like a red shirt or red vest, this will allow for layering with neutrals to pair everything down again.

3. No Hardware

You may have noticed that pieces at The Row almost never have any hardware on show. No zips, metal fasteners etc. Zips tend to be all concealed and buttons are kept to the same colouring as the fabric to keep things ultra clean and sophisticated. Be sure to look out for these details when shopping.

4. Minimal Texture Mix

Don’t forget to add a few items that bring some texture, as The Row is very minimal, the addition of some texture plays a big part in bringing in some interest. Like an open knit jumper to pair over a tailored pair of trousers; the tailoring of the trousers with the easy feel of the open knit instantly gives that Row effortless feel.

5. Keep Accessories Minimal

When pairing bags and shoes, be sure to think about the hardware element again. You won’t tend to find any stand out buckles & zips on the row’s bag & shoes. Shapes of bags are usually quite organic like the pouch style Angy Bag or either a soft structure like the infamous Margaux Bag. Loafers are almost a huge must for a Row inspired wardrobe, so be sure to add a comfy pair that will see you through day to evening.
